Destination weddings are so underrated in Nigeria, because most people believe that they are solely for the rich, or that they will be too expensive. We have been trained to think that all our family members need to be there to wear asoebi and snap picture.
Lie. Big lie.
Destination weddings are beautiful. Contrary to what you may have been taught, there are a lot of perks that come with it, and the beautiful memories? Words can’t describe the feelings enough.
Here are 4 Reasons why you should consider destination weddings:
1. Destination weddings are easy to organise:
When we see destination weddings on YouTube or Instagram, our minds trick us that these persons have spent a fortune or are born with a silver spoon. In most cases it’s true, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan yours.
You’re probably thinking of payment cost for the event planner, right? Guess what, there are a lot of excellent wedding planners that are based in the country you want to get married to. They are in tune with local suppliers and can get the best deal for you. You wouldn’t have to lift a finger
I know. I know. You can’t trust a stranger. Nigerians and their trust issues.
You can equally hire an event manager here in Nigeria because they could help you favorably draft your destination wedding budget. Tons of them can deliver quality service at an affordable price. You could organise with travel agencies and plan with their promo dates. You and your guests could get cheap transportation and lodge in inexpensive but quality hotels that way.
2. You could have your wedding and honeymoon in one place:
This is one reason why it’s affordable. You could have your guests and do your honeymoon all in one place.
There are a lot of moderate hotels that give discounts depending on the number of nights spent there. It makes everything a lot easier.
3. You can take amazing photos
Just imagine taking dreamy, breathtaking photos close to the ocean, somewhere in the Maldives. Wouldn’t that be lovely?
But no, you prefer to take pictures close to your aunties that you haven’t seen in 20 years.
Nothing is wrong in taking pictures with family members, but, your wedding is once in a lifetime, so you have to make it as special as possible.
Now, you may be thinking- what if my friends and family members can’t afford to come to my wedding? I need to have them at your wedding.
The first thing to understand is that your marriage is between you and your boo. The most significant persons in any wedding ceremony are the couple, officiating minister(s) or priest(s), and an observer.
The term ‘observer’ can now include parents, relatives and friends. You don’t need to invite all your relatives to your wedding. If you really want them there, you can make plans with the travel agency and inform your relatives on time. Perhaps, a one-year notice.
4. . Trim your guest list to the barest minimum:
Why should you have a large crowd of people whom you do not even know half of, when you can spend that time with the ones that are most important somewhere in a beautiful city and have the best time of your life?
If anyone gets upset at you for fixing your wedding so far away and decides to not come because of the distance, know that they either do not have money to come or they just don’t like you.
It’s your wedding. You and your special one are all that matter.
Just imagine having destination weddings in:
Come on. If you want one, you can get one. Your mindset should not be a barrier.
So, don’t fret. You should be preparing for your big day. Here is how you can keep fit and stay healthy.
