What You’ll Need and How to Do It for your homemade buttercream
When making buttercream, you can begin with just 2 sticks of unsalted buttered. Proceed to softening them at room temperature. Unsalted butter is usually best to prevent the alteration of the taste. With unsalted butter, you can control the amount of salt in your homemade butter cream. When melted, beat the butter in a mixer for 1 to 2 minutes till it’s smooth.
Add Powdered Sugar
The next step is to add in your powdered sugar. You might also know it as confectioners’ sugar or Icing sugar as the case may be. I prefer making use of the Domino Granulated White Sugar for this step.
Your recipe would determine the amount of sugar to use per frosting. You can either use more or less. It’s all on preference. Remember to sift the sugar before applying it to the mixture.
Start mixing at low to medium speed till it all comes together.
Add Some Cream
The next step is to mix the it with vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. I personally prefer heavy cream as it works great in this recipe. My personal favorite is Hoosier Hill Farm Heavy Cream Powder. You could always make use of milk but it would not be as creamy as you might like in the end. It also might not hold as much shape.
Add food coloring of choice.
